My rarest and most cherished clients are those who can calmly and in detail explain why they believe a candidate I've shown them isn't the right fit.
Arguments like 'didn't like them' state a fact but aren't very helpful because they don't clarify reasons, and therefore, don't allow avoiding similar missteps in the future.
You might even choose not to hire anyone :) But explaining precisely why is the cornerstone of a future successful placement.
Providing the right feedback to a recruiter requires not just the ability but also the willingness.
And an understanding that the effort spent will undoubtedly be compensated by saving time in the future.
Because you won't have to conduct meetings with people who have little chance of joining your team.
Otherwise, at some point, a recruiter who doesn't understand what's wrong with their candidates starts to show anyone who formally fits, merely hoping by chance that someone will eventually make it through. Sooner or later. Or never...
That's how 'nightmarish funnels' of hundreds of candidates and daunting statistics of 'failure' emerge.
Then comes mutual dissatisfaction and irritation.
And eventually, a mutual conviction that it's not worth wasting time on each other.
